KARACHI: In a recent development, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced to hold city-wide protests, demonstrations on 13 major arteries of Karachi on May 16, amid the acute water shortage in the metropolis.

In this regard, JI Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar made the statement at a press conference held at Idara Noor-e-Haq on Wednesday.

While talking to the media, he accused the Pakistan Peoples Party PPP-led government of subjecting Karachi to “water assault” on an ongoing basis.

“Wherever the PPP finds Karachi, it turns to Sindh – just for corruption,” said Zafar while addressing the press conference. He also claimed that 14 days ago, an 84-inch water supply line developed a water leak – the sixth time in the last seven months, causing water wastage, which ultimately leads to water shortage in the city
