KARACHI: In a press announcement, the Karachi Traffic Police prepared a traffic control plan aimed at minimizing disruptions while allowing smooth vehicular passage in and around the 12th International Defense Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS), slated from November 19 to 22 at the Expo Centre Karachi.
Among the security concerns, various points on Shahrah-e-Faisal shall be temporarily closed, including from Drigh Road to Karsaz, which will be inhibited in both directions, from 2:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. on November 23.
Traffic from the airport shall be diverted from Drigh Road to Rashid Minhas Road, through Millennium Mall towards NIPA.
Additionally, airport-bound traffic coming from FTC and Nursery areas will not be directed toward Karsaz Road or the airport but should rather use the Shaheed-e-Millat Road via the Baloch Colony Bridge.
Similarly, traffic coming from Jail Chowrangi can be accessed through Hassan Square, NIPA, and Rashid Minhas Road towards Drigh Road, Airport.
The Karachi Traffic Police has advised drivers to observe alternative routes wherever possible, to minimize disruption. For example, traffic using University Road will be diverted away from Stadium Road, Karsaz, and Millennium Mall. Jail Chowrangi, PP Chowrangi, and Shaheed-e-Millat can be alternate routes instead. Also, traffic from Liaquatabad number 10 shall not be allowed onto Stadium Road from Hasan Square Bridge.
The Karachi Traffic Police urged commuters to plan their travel routes and be mindful of the diversion of traffic in order to avoid inconveniences. The traffic plan aims to ensure smooth vehicle movement and minimal disturbances throughout the IDEAS 2024 exhibition.
