KARACHI: Karachi Police have arrested two private security guards for allegedly assaulting a citizen during an altercation in Karachi’s Boat Basin area.

DIG South Asad Raza said that the main suspect Shahzain Marri, a famous political personality, has fled to Balochistan.

The swift action from police came after CCTV footage of the incident, which reportedly occurred on February 19, went viral on social media, showing Marri and his guards physically assaulting a citizen.

The video also captured their vehicle reversing into another car, before the suspects emerged with weapons in hand and started attacking an individual in the other vehicle.

DIG South said that two locations were raided late at night, leading to the arrest of two security guards responsible for the assault.

Police also claimed that four modern firearms were recovered from the suspects.

The arrested individuals, Ghous Bakhsh and Jalad Khan, are security guards of Shahzain Marri. Following the incident, Marri fled to Balochistan, a police official said.

Karachi police have now reached out to Balochistan authorities for assistance in securing his arrest.

Authorities have assured that all remaining suspects will soon be apprehended as part of the ongoing investigation into the Boat Basin assault.
