Key suspects arrested in Sardar Faheem murder case

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police have nabbed the suspected assassins in the high-profile murder case of Sardar Faheem, a well-known writer and national security instructor.

Sardar Faheem, son of a retired brigadier and member of a government think tank on national security and strategy, was murdered at his house in Sector G-6/4 near the Covered Market on June 25.

According to the FIR, his wife discovered him tied and badly injured when she came home. Rescue 1122 transferred him to Polyclinic Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Preliminary reports indicate he was murdered with a sharp-edged weapon.

On Tuesday, during a joint presser, Minister of State Talal Chaudhry and Islamabad IG Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi unveiled important information regarding the Sardar Faheem murder case and informed that the suspected assassins of Sardar Faheem have been detained.

Talal Chaudhry said that the killing of Sardar Faheem was a “test case” for Islamabad Police, which they were able to resolve within six days.

“Safety of citizens’ lives and property is the government’s biggest priority, and every available resource is being utilized for curbing crime. Islamabad Police have quickly resolved many murder cases.”

“In another incident, the accused who perpetrated the murder of a 17-year-old girl was arrested within 24 hours,” he added.

IG Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi told, “Sardar Faheem’s body was discovered at his home, and his belongings were scattered around. The event took place on the night of June 25. Soon after the event, 11 police teams were established, five of which were headed by the SSP Operations.”

He also disclosed, “57 people were interrogated concerning the murder. In the course of the investigation, suspects were arrested from Gujranwala and Chiniot. Useful information was also obtained from Adiala, Camp, and Kot Lakhpat prisons.”

The IG further stated that “Sardar Faheem was brutally murdered during a robbery. But police considered all aspects in the investigation and took the case to its logical end.”

Talal Chaudhry asserted that the rate of crime in Islamabad has decreased by 37 per cent and that police are working day and night to secure the citizens.
