Khawaja Asif being threatened for suggesting Gen Faiz’s summoning in Parliament

ISLAMABAD: Federal Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has spoken out about various important issues during an interview with a private TV program.

He revealed that he faced threats after discussing the idea of bringing General (R) Faiz Hameed into parliament. Asif also mentioned the presence of TTP members in Pakistan and PTI founder Imran Khan’s support for them in Parliament.

In his discussion about Afghanistan, Asif expressed Pakistan’s desire for peaceful relations and emphasized the need for mutual cooperation despite global pressures. He highlighted Pakistan’s support for Afghanistan and called for the Afghan interim government to consider Pakistan’s demands regarding Afghan migrants.

Asif also addressed concerns about terrorism, questioning why Pakistan is being targeted and referencing past injustices during General Zia-ul-Haq’s era. He criticized the handling of the 2018 elections and the consequences of removing Nawaz Sharif’s government, emphasizing the need for accountability.

Regarding his own political career, Asif spoke about enduring challenges and hinted at the possibility of retirement. He stressed the importance of respectful discourse in politics and expressed confidence in Nawaz Sharif’s leadership.
