PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Department has written a letter to the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASCO) for the supply of wheat.
The Food Department’s letter has demanded that the first installment of 25,000 metric tons of wheat be released for the fiscal year 2025-26 and that PASCO release wheat to approved contractors.
The letter states that the wheat harvested in the year 2024 will be provided, the KP Food Department has paid the price of wheat in advance, so PASCO should ensure uninterrupted delivery of wheat from Punjab.
The letter further states that facilities should be provided to the contractors bringing wheat for the timely delivery of wheat, 4,500 metric tons of wheat should be provided for Malakand Dargai, while 7,500 metric tons of wheat have been allocated for Lower Dir and 500 metric tons for Upper Dir.
In addition, 3,500 metric tons of wheat should be provided to Swat and 5,000 metric tons to Buner, 3,000 to Mansehra, while 1,000 metric tons of wheat has been allocated to Battagram.
According to the letter, wheat will be delivered from various centers of Punjab, including Burewala, Khanewal, Okara, Sahiwal and Multan.
