PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has taken an important decision for provincial government pensioners and approved a 7% increase in net pension, a formal notification of which has also been issued.
The government announcement said that the 7% increase in pension has come into effect from July 1, 2026, and all provincial government pensioners will be able to benefit from it.
The notification issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Department has clarified the important points and conditions regarding the increase in pension.
In this notification, it has been said that this 7% increase will be given based on the net pension received till June 30, 2026, and government employees who retire on or after July 1, 2026 will also be entitled to this 7% increase.
This increase will be equally applicable to cases of family pension and compassionate allowance.
In addition, eligible pensioners of the provincial government residing abroad will also be able to benefit from this increase under the prescribed terms and conditions.
The notification has clarified that this 7 percent increase will not apply to any “special additional pension” already received.
This move of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is being termed as a major relief for millions of retired employees of the province and their families in the current economic situation.
