PESHAWAR: Spring vacations have been extended to accommodate the Eid holidays, resulting in the re-opening of educational institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on April 15.

The Department of Elementary and Higher Education has issued separate notifications directing all public and private educational institutions to remain closed on Eid holidays and until April 13 (Saturday).

As educational institutions were already closed for spring vacation as of April 1, the start of new sessions has been postponed due to the holidays.

The untimely spring break is mainly due to the non-availability of free textbooks, as the provincial government has yet to provide them to the students. As a result, the scheduled start of the new academic year has passed.

Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government announced spring vacation from April 1 to April 8 for all public and private educational institutions across the province.

The government had directed all principals, head teachers, and clerical staff to monitor the distribution of free textbooks during the holidays and ensure the continuation of the admission process for new students during the enrollment drive.
