LAHORE: A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hassan Aziz has been dismissed from service after being found guilty in a harassment and misconduct case involving misuse of authority, according to official inquiry reports.
The internal inquiry found the officer guilty of harassment and misconduct after he misused his authority in his official position.
The investigation concluded that the police officer conducted secret meetings with the victim while he attempted to intimidate her by providing help with her legal issues.
The case dates back to 2023 when Sadia initially filed a harassment complaint against the officer. In the first departmental inquiry, DIG Amin Bukhari recommended minor disciplinary action.
Additional IG Muhammad Idress conducted a detailed examination of evidence after police re-investigated the matter, which resulted in DSP Hassan Aziz proving his innocence.
Additional IG Imran Mahmood conducted a third investigation, which reached the same conclusions as previous inquiries. The department recommended dismissal from service, which Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Karim used to remove the officer from his position.
Sources said the dismissed officer has now filed an appeal against the decision in the Ministry of Interior.
The case shows how police organizations need to improve their methods of holding officers accountable for their actions and maintaining professional standards.
