Landslide buries car in Skardu, leaves five dead

SKARDU: At least five people died after a vehicle carrying multiple passengers was struck by a landslide near Rondo on Jaglot-Skardu Road, the police said on Sunday.

The vehicle was traveling from Skardu to Shengus village in Rondo District when it got caught in a landslide.

The passengers were buried due to the landslide and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to recover the bodies and rescue the survivors buried under falling debris.

Rescue sources further revealed that only the vehicle’s frame and tyres were being spotted.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a vehicle fell into a ravine in Astore leaving six passengers injured. The wounded have been shifted to hospital.
