Latest update on arms license issuance in Punjab

LAHORE: The authority to issue arms licenses in Punjab has been transferred to Deputy Commissioners, here on Tuesday.

As per the details, a spokesperson for the Home Department said that this decision has been taken under the Punjab Arms Rules 2023, which also assigns other powers to Deputy Commissioners.

The authority to issue licenses for repairing weapons has been given to the concerned Deputy Commissioner and the Additional Secretary of the Judicial Department of the Home Department.

They have also been given the authority to renew the expiring licenses for repairing weapons across the province.

Similarly, the authority to issue duplicate arms repair licenses has been given to the Deputy Commissioners and the Additional Secretary of the Judicial Department. The authority to increase the bore and ammunition of weapons in the existing category has already been delegated to them.

The DC has also been given the authority to issue duplicate firearm licenses. As per the rules, the Deputy Commissioners will have to share the latest record of arms licenses with the Home Department on a monthly basis.
