ISLAMABAD: Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik is set to assume charge as the new Director General (DG) of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) today.
Lt Gen Asim Malik, 59, will succeed Lieutenant General Nadeem Anjum as Pakistan’s spymaster, the Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) announced in a press release issued on September 23.
Before this appointment, he served as the Adjutant General at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi for the past three years.
The newly appointed ISI chief has previously commanded the Infantry Division in Balochistan and the Infantry Brigade in Waziristan. In October 2021, then-Major General Asim Malik had been promoted to the rank of lieutenant general.
Lt Gen Asim has also received a “sword of honor” in his course.
Apart from that, he has also been posted as Chief Instructor at National Defense University (NDU) and served as an Instructor at Command and Staff College Quetta. Lt Gen Asim is a graduate of Fort Leavenworth and the Royal College of Defence Studies.
