Maryam Nawaz launches green electric bus service in five Punjab districts

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has formally inaugurated the Green Electric Bus Service in five districts of Punjab.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that the Green Electric Bus Service has been started in Layyah, Chiniot, Sialkot, Okara and Murree, while electric buses are being operated in all cities and tehsils of Punjab in a phased manner.

She said that she is happy that the public has been provided with comfortable, safe and cost-effective travel facilities, this is the largest public transport system in the history of Pakistan, while electric bus service is also being started in Murree for the first time.

The Chief Minister said that special concessions have also been arranged for senior citizens, women and students in electric buses.

She added that 101 new electric buses are also being sent to other districts of Punjab, while a target has been set to operate 5,000 electric buses across the province in the next five years.

According to Maryam Nawaz, more modern and quality travel facilities will be provided to the people of Punjab in the coming days.
