BARKHAN: At least two people were killed and 11 others injured when a bomb planted on a motorcycle exploded in the main market of Rakhni in Barkhan district on Monday, officials confirmed.
The device, hidden in a parked motorcycle, exploded near crowded shops, damaging nearby buildings and a vehicle, Barkhan Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Khosa said. Four of the injured are in critical condition and have been shifted to a hospital in Dera Ghazi Khan.
Emergency measures have been imposed in Barkhan hospitals. Police, Levies and FC personnel have cordoned off the area and started a search for the perpetrators.
The incident follows a similar blast in Khuzdar in March, where a remote-controlled IED attached to a motorcycle killed four people.
