ISLAMABAD: The National Identity Card is the primary identification document in Pakistan that provides a unique identification number to every citizen. It is issued by the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA).
As per the details, this is the first requirement of individuals as it is mandatory to obtain documents like license, NTN, bank account, passport, cellular connection etc. Every citizen of Pakistan, 18 years or above, is eligible for NIC.
The ID card links directly to health care by linking medical records and verifying identity for school enrollment in education. It is also necessary to get a SIM card. A document with a unique 13-digit number is linked to a centralized system with a single identification ID, reducing reliance on birth certificates.
The normal fee for a new Smart National Identity Card is Rs 750. The fee for urgent processing is Rs 1,500, while the executive category is currently Rs 2,500.
