ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has called upon all married citizens to update their marital status in the official records at the earliest to avoid any legal complications in the future.
A recent Facebook post by the authority noted that although many have registered their marriages with the Union Council, they have not yet updated their marital status in the NADRA database.
The authority has reiterated that such individuals should immediately go and get their marital status recorded correctly at the NADRA centers.
This change is part of the ongoing effort of NADRA to keep actual and current information about citizens.
Additionally, NADRA has introduced an SMS service to notify the married citizens in this regard.
NADRA charges Rs 100 for updating marital status on a CNIC in Pakistan. Applicants are required to submit relevant documents, such as a marriage certificate or Nikahnama, depending on their case, when requesting the modification.
Citizens can get further information or guidance from the helpline provided by NADRA at 1777 for mobile users or 051-111-786-100, and the official website [www.nadra.gov.pk](http://www.nadra.gov.pk).
