Over 100 illegal buildings sealed by LDA in Lahore

LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has sealed over 100 unauthorized buildings during operations on Wednesday.

As per the details, this crackdown, directed by LDA DG Tahir Farooq and overseen by Chief Town Planner-I, targeted various locations throughout the city.

LDA teams sealed a total of 112 properties, with the majority located in hight-traffic areas. Specifically, 65 buildings were sealed on Jail Road, Hamdard Chown Township, and surrounding neighbourhoods.

An additional 47 properties were shut down in Sabzazar, Shadman, Wahdat Road, and Tollinton Market. Among these, 17 properties in Sabzazar were sealed for illegal commercial use, while other notable closures included 10 establishments on Main Boulevard Shadman and Tollinton Market, 20 on Wahdat Road and 45 in Jail Road Township.

The properties affected ranged from hospitals and clinics to banks, grocery stores and well-known retail brands, highlighting the extensive nature of unauthorized commercial activates.

In a related effort to enhance urban development, the LDA also held a grand auction for 35 sites, including petrol pumps and educational institutions, generating over Rs 1.2 billion in revenue. This initiative not only aims to boost the local economy but also to ensure that developments adhere to legal standards.
