ISLAMABAD: An overseas Pakistani has alleged that he was denied possession of a plot in Capital Smart City despite having paid the full amount and receiving an allotment letter six years ago.

According to the complainant, when he approached the housing society to take possession of the plot, he was informed that the allotted plot was no longer available.

He claimed that society officials told him he would be given a replacement plot only after the acquisition of new land, a process that could take up to three years.

The overseas Pakistani further stated that when he demanded a refund of the amount paid, the request was rejected. According to him, officials responded that he could “do whatever he wanted” if he was dissatisfied with the decision.

Seeking redress, the complainant filed a complaint through the Pakistan Citizen Portal. However, he said the response received from the relevant authorities stated that they were unable to provide relief in the matter and advised him to pursue the case through the courts.

The incident has raised concerns about the protection of property rights and the availability of effective dispute-resolution mechanisms for overseas Pakistanis investing in the country’s real estate sector.
