RAWALPINDI: In the second match of the 3-match ODI series between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, the national team defeated Sri Lanka and won the series.
National cricket team captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss and decided to field first. And thus, the visiting team, batting first, scored 288 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
Janith Liyanage was the only player from Sri Lanka to score a half-century; his 54 runs were outstanding.
Among the other batsmen, Kamindu Mendis scored 44, Sadeera Samarawickrama 42, Kamil Mishara 27, Pathum Nissanka 24, Kaushal Mendis 20, Charith Asalanka 6 and Dashmantha Chimera returned to the pavilion after scoring zero runs.
Winandu Hasaranga, who scored a half-century in the last match, played an unbeaten innings of 37, and Pramod Madushan scored 11 runs to take the team to a strong total.
Abrar Ahmed and Haris Rauf took 3 wickets each, and Mohammad Wasim took one wicket.
Pakistan showed brilliant batting in pursuit of a target of 289 runs and achieved the target in 48.2 overs for the loss of 2 wickets.
Babar Azam scored a brilliant century for Pakistan, scoring 102 runs, while opening batsman Fakhar Zaman was out for 78 runs. In addition, Saim Ayub returned to the pavilion after scoring 33 runs, while Mohammad Rizwan scored 51 not out.
The national cricket team made 2 changes to the playing eleven for today’s match. Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi and Faheem Ashraf were replaced by Abrar Ahmed and Wasim Junior.
