Pakistan sends 13th aid consignment for people in Gaza

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has dispatched a 13th consignment of humanitarian aid to the war-affected people of Gaza and Lebanon, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said on Saturday.

As per the NDMA statement, on the instruction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in total 1,381 tons of relief items have been dispatched to the affected people of Gaza and Lebanon.

The consignment including 100 tons of winterized tents and blankets was sent from Islamabad to Amman, Jordan to be further dispatched to the people of Gaza, according to the disaster management authority.

The send-off ceremony held at Islamabad International Airport was attended by Parliamentarian Barrister Aqeel Malik, Palestinian Ambassador to Pakistan Zuhair M. H. Darzaid, and representatives from NDMA, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Armed Forces.

Palestinian Ambassador extended the deepest gratitude for the unwavering support and generous humanitarian assistance to Gaza from the people of Pakistan.

He remarked that solidarity during these trying times is a beacon of hope and a testament to the enduring bond between our nations. “The humanitarian aid from Pakistan is not just a lifeline of essential supplies but a powerful message of compassion and unity,” he added.

According to the NDMA, to date, Pakistan has dispatched a total of 12 consignments, comprised of 1281 tons of relief items to Gaza and Lebanon. Of these, 10 consignments (1,151 tons) were directed to Gaza, while two aid consignments ( 130 tons) were sent to Lebanon in addition to the safe evacuation of 71 Pakistan nationals from the war zone region.

The South Asian country has also established the ‘Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for Gaza and Lebanon’ which aims to collect public donations to support the war-affected people in Gaza and Lebanon.
