ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates on Thursday signed five agreements to boost bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including banking, railways, mining and infrastructure investment.
According to state media, the documents were signed during the first official visit of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Pakistan, at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The Crown Prince and the Prime Minister witnessed the ceremony as officials from both sides exchanged previously signed agreements and memorandums of understanding for cooperation in various sectors.
Members of the federal cabinet and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir and members of the UAE delegation were also present.
The two countries signed an agreement to promote bilateral cooperation in the banking sector. Secretary Finance Imdadullah Bosal and IHC CEO and MD Syed Basar Shoaib exchanged documents.
The two sides also signed another agreement to enhance cooperation in the mining sector.
Pakistan Railways CEO Amir Ali Baloch and Ittehad Rail CEO Shadi Malik exchanged documents for two MoUs for cooperation in the railway sector.
Similarly, Secretary Board of Investment Nadeem Chaudhry and CEO AD Ports Captain Muhammad Juma Al-Shamiisi exchanged documents for an MoU in the field of infrastructure investment.
