ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has announced that the weather is expected to remain cold and dry in most of the plains of Pakistan during the next 24 hours.
However, it is expected to remain cloudy with rain, strong winds and snowfall in the northern parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
The PMD attributed the conditions to a shallow westerly wave affecting the western and upper parts of the country. This follows a day of cold, dry weather in most parts of Pakistan, with cold temperatures especially in the hilly areas. Light to moderate fog was observed in some areas of northeastern Punjab.
The country’s lowest temperature was recorded in Gilgit-Baltistan’s Layyah area on Tuesday, which dropped to minus 11 degrees Celsius.
