ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Friday declared Parliament Lodges as a sub-jail for arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers.

The decision was made following a request from PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar and other members due to heightened security concerns. All the arrested PTI MNAs have signed the necessary forms and will likely be transferred to Parliament Lodges today.

Additionally, the NA Speaker has issued production orders for ten PTI lawmakers to attend the 9th session of the National Assembly. The decision of sub-jail is intended to enable the detained MNAs to attend the upcoming NA session.

In this regard, the National Assembly Secretariat has written a letter to the Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.

The letter stated that the Honourable Speaker has declared the Parliament Lodges, Islamabad as sub-jail under rule 108 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007.

The production order and sub-jail were declared for 10 National Assembly members including, Sher Afzal Khan, Malik Muhammad Aamir Dogar, Muhammad Ahmed Chattha, Makhdoom Zain Hussain Qureshi, Waqas Akram, Zubair Khan Wazir, Awais Haider Jakhar, Syed Shah Ahad Ali Shah, Nasim Ali Shah, and Yousaf Khan.
