ISLAMABAD: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a warning regarding the expected heat wave in Punjab this month.
Following the warning, the authority has advised the public to take precautionary measures to mitigate the negative effects of the expected heat increase.
Pakistan is among the top 10 countries most vulnerable to climate change worldwide. In recent years, South Asian countries have experienced unpredictable weather patterns, including erratic rainfall, floods, and heat waves, causing significant loss of life.
According to the PDMA report, the temperature is likely to be higher than the average recorded in the last 30 years. Especially in the plains of the province, including major cities, there is a possibility of a heat wave during this month.
Additionally, the department predicts strong winds, dust storms, heavy rain, and hail across the province in April.
