LAHORE: A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight narrowly escaped an accident after hitting a bird while landing at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport on Sunday.
According to sources, PIA flight PK 304 from Karachi to Lahore hit a bird at Lahore Airport.
There were 200 passengers on board the Karachi-Lahore flight PK 304. The incident occurred around 6 pm yesterday. The report said that PIA may have to spend crores of rupees to fix the technical fault. The plane was allowed to fly after 20 hours. An aviation official said that no bird repellent system has been installed at any airport across the country to protect planes from hitting birds.
Airlines have to bear losses of crores of rupees every year due to bird strikes, which can also lead to major accidents.
