Police team sent to Lahore to arrest Aleema Khan in protest case

RAWALPINDI: After a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan in the November 26 protest case registered at Sadiqabad police station, Rawalpindi Police has sent a special team to Lahore to arrest her.

According to police sources, the Sadiqabad police station team has left for Lahore with the arrest warrant issued by the court. The warrant lists Aleema Khan’s address as 14 Upper Mall Road, Lahore, where legal action is expected from the police team.

The Anti-Terrorism Court Rawalpindi had issued a non-bailable arrest warrant on Friday due to Aleema Khan’s continued absence.

According to sources, the court has also issued summons to Aleema Khan’s surety Umar Sharif to present an explanation in the court.

Umar Sharif is a resident of Rawalpindi who had submitted bonds of Rs 100,000 for Aleema Khan’s bail.

The court has warned that if Aleema Khan is not produced at the next hearing on October 20, legal action will be initiated against the surety.

The case registered at Sadiqabad police station is related to the protest of November 26, 2022, which includes allegations of incitement and rioting.

According to the police, all legal requirements are being fulfilled to arrest the accused and the team has been directed to raid various places in Lahore.
