ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has made the decision to occupy opposition benches in both the centre and Punjab, following directives from the party founder, announced Barrister Saif.

Addressing the media after a meeting with Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chief Aftab Ahmad Sherpao, Barrister Saif reiterated the party’s stance that their mandate was allegedly stolen in the recent General Elections.

“Based on the evidence from Forms 45, PTI holds the majority to form governments both at the centre and in Punjab. Our protest will persist until our constitutional demands are met,” asserted Barrister Saif.

During the meeting with QWP leadership, the PTI delegation conveyed the message from party founder Imran Khan, urging Aftab Ahmad Sherpao to collaborate with PTI in formulating a joint strategy against alleged election rigging.

In response, QWP leader Sikandar Sherpao commented on the evolving political landscape, stating, “The political situation is becoming increasingly complex. It is encouraging to see political parties engaging with each other.”

The decision by PTI to sit in opposition underscores the ongoing political uncertainty in Pakistan, with no single party securing a simple majority in the National Assembly. Efforts to forge alliances among political stakeholders continue, with PTI-backed independent candidates maintaining a lead over mainstream political parties in the recent elections.

Independent candidates supported by PTI have clinched a significant number of seats, solidifying their position in the political arena. Meanwhile, other major political players like PML-N and PPP have also secured notable victories in various constituencies.

PTI’s stance against forming a coalition government with PPP, PML-N, or MQM-P remains firm, as articulated by PTI founder Imran Khan.

As Pakistan navigates through its post-election political landscape, PTI’s decision to occupy opposition benches signals a renewed determination to uphold their stance and demand accountability in the democratic process.
