ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday terminated the membership of Salman Ahmad for defying the instructions of the party founder Imran Khan.

According to the notification, issued by PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Salman Ahmad was consistently found posting “unwarranted and scurrilous posts” on social media including X.

“The posts sought to sow division and discontent among the members and supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI),” it added.

As per the document, the musician-turned-politician was involved in social media posts against the “family of former prime minister and founding PTI chairman Imran Khan”

“Whereas the party had dissociated itself from your conduct and statements and had warned you about the consequences of your conduct,” the notification read.

Furthermore, the former ruling party alleged that Ahmad had been consistently asked by the Core Committee of PTI to desist from “posting those objectionable posts”.

Over the repeated warnings, as per the notification, chairman Barrister Gohar expelled Salman Ahmad from the party with immediate effect and instructed him never to show any affiliation with the party.
