LAHORE: The Punjab Excise Department has unveiled a new scheme of vanity number plates, which will start next week.

The move will allow residents to personalize their vehicle registration plates with names and numbers of their choice.

According to Director Excise Muhammad Asif, the scheme will offer three distinct categories of vanity number plates:

Gold Plates: Price 500,000 PKR

Platinum Plates: Price 50,000 PKR

Corporate Plates: Price 1,000,000 PKR

These plates shall be permanently owned by the purchaser.

To address concerns about fake plates, the department has implemented a comprehensive strategy, which includes maintaining a detailed database of all vanity plate holders.

Apart from this, Mufti Qavi has been appointed as the ambassador of Vanity Number Plates Scheme. This role will include promoting the initiative and raising public awareness.

The scheme is expected to add a new dimension to vehicle personalization and regulatory control in Punjab.
