LAHORE: The provincal government is fully ready to ensure cleanliness and sanitation during Eid-ul-Azha, with comprehensive planning, said Punjab’s Minister for Local Government, Zeeshan Rafiq.
A huge network of labor and equipment is currently operating throughout cities and villages as part of the “Suthra Punjab” effort.
The Shahpur Kanjran Model Market is a perfect example of the 180 sales points that have been established through the formation of open livestock marketplaces, Rafiq continued.
The Punjab chief minister inaugurated the model market, which features very effective security and sanitary measures. The government intends to provide some 12 million garbage bags to help citizens dispose of animal waste properly.
These will be offered at special camps and union councils. You can also call the 1139 helpline to obtain one.
Approximately 180,000 sanitation personnel will handle over 380,000 tons of animal excrement during the course of the three days of Eid. 292,000 brooms and handcarts will be used in addition to more than 36,000 vehicles for rubbish collection.
Similar to Eid-ul-Fitr, Rafiq stressed, graveyards and mosques will also undergo extra cleaning. 27,000 mosques in Punjab will be cleansed this time.
Primary garbage collection locations and 4,000 UC-level camps will also be set up. Punjab will establish 816 trash disposal facilities and 1,684 locations for collective sacrifice (ijtimai qurbangahs). Rosewater and phenyl sprays will be used extensively to avoid unpleasant smells.
30,563 liters of rosewater and more than 142,000 units of phenyl will be utilized across the province.
