Punjab ministry imposes section 144 in Mianwali

MAINWALI: The Punjab Home Ministry has imposed Section 144 in the Mianwali district, effective immediately for an undefined period.

This measure prohibits all public gatherings, and protests, citing concerns over the law and order situation in the region.

It is pertinent to mention that this measure is taken to maintain law and order in the region as recently several riots have been reported in Punjab.

Earlier, 12 policemen lost their lives in an incident where dacoits targeted two police vehicles in the Katcha area, and seven others were left with serious injuries.

In response to the escalating violence, the Punjab government has significantly increased the head money on notorious bandits operating in the Katcha area, raising it from one million to 10 million rupees.

In addition, the list of wanted bandits includes 20 individuals, who are considered to be a significant threat to public safety.

To aid in the capture and prosecution of these individuals, the Provincial Home Department is urging citizens to come forward with any information they may have.

Moreover, a dedicated WhatsApp number, 03334002653, has been established for the public to share tips and intelligence about the whereabouts of the wanted bandits.

The department has assured that all information received will be treated with the utmost confidentiality, and the identity of informants will be strictly protected.

By taking these measures, the Punjab government aims to restore law and order in the affected areas, ensure public safety, and bring those responsible for the recent violence to justice.
