LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has banned the use of social media platforms, including TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram, for police personnel while on duty.

This move comes after several videos of Punjab police officers and female personnel went viral on social media. The ban aims to prevent personnel from using social media while on duty and uploading videos in uniform.

A social media usage policy has been issued, which prohibits sharing personal, political, or religious views and requires permission from the District Police Officer (DPO) or unit head for any social media activity.

The policy also restricts the use of police vehicles and offices for social media activities. Regional Police Officers (RPOs) of Punjab and unit heads will be responsible for enforcing the policy, and strict departmental action will be taken against violators.
