Punjab Police officer Riffat Bukhari wins prestigious global award

LAHORE: For her exceptional contributions to the police force, Punjab Police Officer Riffat Bukhari has been chosen to receive an international award.

The International Association of Women Police has nominated Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Riffat Bukhari for the Excellence in Performance Award 2024 in recognition of her outstanding accomplishment.

The Women Police’s Excellence in Performance Award is a prestigious annual award to one female police officer from around the world to recognize her exceptional service to her community.

SSP Riffat Bukhari, who is currently stationed at the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, has been selected for the award for her prominent contributions to women’s safety, the use of artificial intelligence for criminal apprehension, and the development of intelligent traffic management systems and road safety mechanisms.

Deborah Friedl, President of the International Association of Women Police, has extended congratulations to SSP Bukhari through a special letter for her selection for the global award. Dr. Usman Anwar, IG of Punjab Police, also expressed pride in SSP Bukhari’s accomplishments, citing her as an inspiration for all police officers, particularly women.

SSP Riffat Bukhari will receive the award at the 61st annual conference of the International Association of Women Police in Chicago, USA, scheduled for September this year.

The International Association of Women Police (IAWP) is a global organization for women police officers and women in other criminal justice roles. Our mission is to strengthen, unite, and raise the capacity of women police around the world.
