Punjab solar scheme 2024 for consumers using 500 units; Details inside

LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has revealed more information about the Solar Scheme 2024, which targets residents of the province using up to 500 electricity units per month.

She shared these details during a ceremony marking the launch of a free home delivery service from Model Bazars.

She announced that the government will offer free solar systems to consumers using up to 200 electricity units per month. These consumers already benefit from subsidized electricity rates, and the solar systems will provide additional relief.

For those using up to 500 units per month, the chief minister stated that the government will offer a complete solar system on easy installment plans.

Eligibility Criteria for Solar Scheme:

The chief minister announced that free solar systems would be provided to those using up to 200 electricity units per month, who already benefit from subsidized rates. This initiative aims to offer further relief.

For consumers using up to 500 units per month, the government will offer complete solar systems through an easy installment plan. The initiative is expected to cost Rs600-700 billion and could reduce electricity bills by 50%. Approximately 500,000 consumers fall into this category.

Solar Scheme Installment Plan:

The solar systems will be available under a five-year installment plan, with ownership transferred to consumers upon completion of payments. Installments will be included in monthly electricity bills.

The government is finalizing the plan and will soon announce the total cost and monthly installment amount for consumers using up to 500 units.
