LAHORE: Every year, all public and private schools across Punjab observe more than two months of summer vacations to protect students from scorching heat in the province.

Mostly, summer vacations across the province start from June till August when the temperature in the region soared to 40 degrees Celsius or above. According to forecasts, temperatures may soar to 39°C in May 2024 and exceed 40°C in June 2024.

Currently, the temperature has reached 33°C in Lahore and other cities and it is likely to increase further in the coming days. The high temperature can lead to heat waves causing heatstroke, and dehydration putting the students’ lives at risk. That’s why the administration prefers to shut the schools across the province for over two months.
