MURREE: The Punjab Minister for Minerals, Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani, has announced that more than 800,000 saplings will be planted in the Murree district for forest conservation, wildlife protection, and human protection against environmental hazards.

While speaking at a ceremony organized by the Forest Department of Murree, in recognition of World Forest Day, Gorchani emphasized, that each of us must pledge to make Pakistan green and prosperous, which can start by planting at least one tree.

Protecting and conserving forests from fire is vital, Gorchani said, adding that the destruction of forests ultimately affects human life and depletes natural resources.

Gorchani did agree that establishing infrastructure is necessary but noted that the cutting down of trees needs to cease for trees to help sustain ecological balance, improve the spaces we live in, and give us oxygen.

About almost 500,000 saplings were planted at the ceremony, with a nurserybased goal of 810,840 trees the department committed to for the spring season along with large trees, small plants, and seedlings.

The Pakistan Army was one of many organizations that assisted with the plantation, which the provincial minister and others officially launched near Jeikagali, outside of Peli Mati.
