LAHORE: Punjab Police has outlined detailed traffic management plans to ensure smooth road operations and public safety during the New Year’s Eve celebrations. A large deployment of traffic wardens and police officers will be able to tackle challenges such as one-wheeling, aerial firing, and reckless road behavior.
In Rawalpindi, over 800 traffic wardens will work with 6,600 police personnel to regulate traffic and enforce safety measures on the roads. 32 special pickets have been set up to prevent illegal activities, with additional checkpoints also set up in key areas. Patrolling units, including Dolphin Force and Mohaf Squad, will monitor the roadways to ensure compliance and take strict action against violators.
Over 25,000 personnel have been deployed for road safety and traffic regulation in Lahore and other parts of Punjab. More than 5,000 officers will be deployed in Lahore alone, supported by special units like the Dolphin Squad and Punjab Highway Patrol. These teams will patrol the highways and major roads better to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Authorities have stressed a zero-tolerance policy against violations like one-wheeling and illegal road use, warning that violators will face arrests and FIRs. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious or illegal activities through the police helpline (15) to maintain law and order during the celebrations.
