LAHORE: The government of Punjab has decided to distribute ration cards in the flood-hit areas, according to media reports.
The flood victims will be a priority while distributing the ration cards, aiming to provide instant relief to the affected families.
According to the reports, the decision was taken in a recent meeting of the Punjab Labor Department.
Several key issues, including the recovery of workers’ welfare funds, a pilot subsidy project for low-income families in Lahore, and the installation of CCTV cameras in workers’ welfare school buses, were also reviewed in the meeting.
The Provincial Labor Minister gave authorities instructions to activate all directors and field teams for the efficient collection of welfare payments and to make sure that ration cards are distributed quickly in regions impacted by flooding.
He also ordered that the pilot initiative, which gives 10,000 low-income households in Lahore a monthly stipend of Rs. 3,000, be put into action right now.
Additionally, emphasis was placed on filling open departmental positions and preparing working documents for the installation of CCTV cameras on school buses.
