Rauf Atta from Independent group wins SCBA presidential election

ISLAMABAD: As the polling for the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) election concluded on Tuesday, the Independent group’s candidate Mian Rauf Atta has won the presidential seat.

 The SCBA elections are held across the country, where more than four thousand lawyers voted to elect the president as well as vice presidents and executive members from provinces. Seventeen candidates contested for eight positions in the Supreme Court Bar.

Rauf Atta, backed by the independent group — which consistently supported the federal govt on key issues including the 26th Constitutional Amendment — has won the principal seat from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in SCBA elections.

While, Munir Kakar, backed by Professional Group which supports PTI — for the Presdient seat has won the election from Sindh and Balochistan High Court.

As per the details, the Professional group’s candidate for secretary Salman Mansoor is taking the lead.
