ISLAMABAD: Security forces successfully foiled an infiltration attempt by Khawarij militants at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, capturing five alleged suicide bombers.

The security sources said that the terrorist attempted to infiltrate from the Pak-Afghan border at 5 pm on July 17 and advanced towards Azizkhel and Mandikhel by 6:25 pm. Due to the presence of security forces, they took shelter in the mosque of Besikhel.

Security forces set up blockades at five different locations as soon as they received information, sources said. Security forces immediately surrounded the mosque, which resulted in the surrender of the Khawarijs.

As per details, the arrested individuals, aged between 15 and 18, include Afghan citizens, three of whom possess Afghan identification cards.

They [terrorists] have been transferred to an undisclosed location for further investigation, while security operations in the area continue, sources said.

Security sources indicate that multiple infiltration attempts along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border have been thwarted in recent months.

A major operation conducted from April 25 to 27 led to the deaths of 71 militants, and another attempt on July 4 resulted in 30 militants being killed, linked to Indian-backed terrorist activities. Additionally, 16 militants were killed in a similar operation on March 23.
