Security forces gunned down three terrorists in Khyber IBO: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Security forces shot dead three terrorists in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Khyber district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday.

As per the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued statement, the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Khyber district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on information about the presence of terrorists.

During the operation, three terrorists, including their leader, Sohail, aka Azmatu, were killed in a fierce exchange of fire. One of the other two terrorists has been identified as Haji Gul, alias Zarqawi.

ISPR says that during the operation, the hideout of the terrorists was also destroyed, while arms and bullets were recovered from the dead terrorists. Locals appreciated the security forces for the successful operation.

“A sanitization operation was also conducted to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area,” ISPR said, adding that the security forces were determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country.

The operation comes amid a surge in terrorist activities across the country, particularly in KP and Balochistan, since the banned militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan ended a ceasefire with the government in November 2022.
