ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Interior has discussed a proposal for a seven-year sentence for individuals involved in black magic and charms.

Senator Samina Mumtaz presented the bill in the meeting, chaired by Senator Faisal Saleem.

The bill focused on the punishment for those involved in black magic and those who advertise it.

She said that practitioners of black magic are destroying society, adding that such practices are not part of Islam.

Senator Samina shared a disturbing example where a black magic practitioner might demand the blood of a murdered child from a client. She also remarked that people practicing black magic are involved in heinous activities.

Responding to the proposal, Senator Irfan Siddiqui questioned the limits of black magic, mentioning that advertisements for such practices appear regularly in newspapers.

“Before creating a new law, defining black magic is a difficult task,” Senator Irfan Siddiqui stated.

Senator Kamran shared his experience of visiting China and observing locks on the Great Wall, while Senator Faisal Saleem inquired about the government’s actions in this regard.

Senator Faisal Saleem praised the bill, noting it was a commendable initiative.

Following the debate, the committee decided to defer the discussion on the bill until the next meeting.
