LAHORE: In a tragic accident, a senior citizen was killed and his young granddaughter was injured in a road accident in Lahore’s Gulberg area on Thursday morning after their motorcycle was struck by a Punjab University speeding bus.

According to reports, the event happened while the victim, Saleem Hussain, 66, was on his way to drop his granddaughter off at school.

Rescue officials and witnesses reported that the motorcyclist was fatally struck by the university bus that collided with it from behind. Hussain passed away at the spot.

In a startling development, the PU bus’s driver left the site right away following the collision. After opening an inquiry, law enforcement is attempting to track down and apprehend the driver.

Many people are questioning road safety standards and accountability in light of the occurrence, which has caused public outcry, particularly when it concerns vehicles used for institutional or public transportation. Punjab University has not yet released a formal statement regarding the situation.

As the hunt goes on, authorities are asking anyone who may have seen the driver or know where he is to come forward.

This tragic event serves as a sobering reminder of the pressing need for more stringent traffic laws and safe driving practices, particularly in high-traffic areas and school zones.
