ISLAMABAD: Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah accepted the bail application of eight Chinese citizens involved in an online fraud case, according to media reports.
Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah of the Islamabad District and Sessions Courts approved the bail pleas against surety bonds of Rs100,000 each.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) reports that a lady complained that she had been duped in an internet scam, and a case was filed against eight foreign people on charges of financial fraud and cybercrime.
The judge granted the bail requests and ordered the accused to provide the necessary bonds after hearing arguments from both parties.
In another development, the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) has uncovered that multiple foreign and local companies are involved in online fraud worth billions of rupees.
A case has also been registered by the FIA Economic Crime Wing under the Money Laundering Act, after the revelation. Some foreign companies and individuals are mentioned in the case, as well as local private banks involved in the scam.
According to preliminary details, billions of rupees were embezzled by deceiving thousands of individuals, with fake businesses and jobs.
