Seven kidnapped police officers rescued in Bannu

BANNU: Seven policemen who were kidnapped from the Atmanzai check post were rescued on Tuesday after successful negotiations by the local jirga.

The District Police Officer (DPO) confirmed that all the abductees were rescued after the prompt intervention of the local jirga.

The policemen were safely released after the kidnapping incident at the Atmanzai check post as a result of the prompt action of the jirga.

Armed men stormed a police check post in Bannu and kidnapped seven policemen on Monday.

According to the police, 30 to 40 armed men attacked a police check post in the Atmanzai area of ​​Bannu and kidnapped seven officers on duty. The attackers also took away police weapons and other equipment.

The kidnapping was saved by four policemen who were not present there at the time.

Earlier in the day, four people, including a tribal leader, were killed in an attack by unknown assailants in the Jani Khel area of ​​Bannu district.

According to police, the vehicle was targeted by unknown assailants, resulting in the death of four people and injuries to others, including a woman and a child.

Police said in their initial statement that the deceased have been identified as Malik Shoudi Khan, Ajab Khan and Ajmal. However, police added that the identity of the deceased woman could not be ascertained.
