Sindh govt digitalize public transport in Karachi

KARACHI: Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah inaugurated the Automated Fare Collection System (AFCS) for People’s Bus Service in Karachi, here on Saturday.

As per the reports, under this system, the bus fare will be collected through a smart card instead of cash payments.

Murad Ali Shah, during the addressing ceremony, said that the transport system in the Sindh province has been moved towards digitalization, adding that the Sindh government’s top priority is providing maximum facilities for the people with the help of modern technology.

CM Sindh, who graced the occasion as chief guest, was informed in a briefing that the Sindh intra-district bus service would open in 2021.

The buses will run on two routes: Route 1 and Route 9. The first route will be from Model Colony Malir to Tower, and Route 9 will be from Gulshan Hadeed to Tower, the CM Murad was briefed.

While the other routes of the bus service will be decided within 90 days,.

The Sindh provincial minister said that the government was working on the Orange Line and Yellow Line as well.
