KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has given an important verdict on the issue of early collection of fees by private schools.

The court has given conditional permission to a ninth-grade student to appear in the exams, which has brought some satisfaction to the students and parents.

During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer submitted that the school administration had demanded the fees for June and July ahead of time, which is against the rules issued by the education department.

According to the lawyer, as per the law, the fees for the summer vacations should be collected in April and May, but the school issued challans before that.

The court was also told that a complaint was made to the concerned authorities in this matter, but no action has been taken so far. This situation has put parents and students in difficulty, as they are facing additional pressure as the exams approach.

The court, while allowing the student to appear in the exam, directed that its result should not be released till the next hearing. Along with this, the court has issued notices to the Advocate General Sindh and other relevant parties, seeking a detailed response at the next hearing.
