KARACHI: Senior Minister of Sindh Sharjeel Memon announced the start of the People’s Bus Service from Sukkur to Shikarpur from next week.
A meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department, headed by Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon, was held in which various decisions were taken.
The spokesperson said that better travel facilities are being considered for the citizens, while new routes and special measures for women are being considered.
According to the spokesperson of the Transport Department, the People’s Bus Service from Sukkur to Shikarpur will be organized this week, and ceremonies will be organized to give pink scooters to women in Sukkur and Hyderabad soon.
In addition, it has been decided to purchase EV, hybrid, double-decker buses for the next financial year, and it has also been agreed to expand the transport network across Sindh, including Karachi.
In this regard, Sharjeel Memon said that special plans are also being made for Hyderabad. The People’s Bus Service will start soon on the Haider Chowk to Kohsar and Hyderabad to Tando Allahyar routes.
He said that in the next financial year, more buses will become part of the transport system, bus service will be started in different districts of the province in a phased manner, and new routes will also be introduced to meet the demands of the growing population in Karachi.
The senior minister said that the People’s Bus Service will start running regularly on the Sukkur-Shikarpur Road next week, while all the formalities related to EV taxis will be completed by the end of this month.
