A 5-member constitutional bench headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan heard the petition to stop the election on the Senate seat after Shibli Faraz’s disqualification.

In the hearing, Barrister Gohar said that the schedule of the Senate election on the seat of Shibli Faraz tomorrow should be suspended, to which Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi said that when you have nominated a candidate, then why are you seeking a stay order? Later, the court rejected the petition to stop the election.

Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court, Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar said that we had challenged the notification of disqualification by the Election Commission, the hearing was adjourned in the Peshawar High Court, today the Supreme Court issued a direction to the High Court to decide after hearing both the parties.

He said that we had also filed a petition to stop the Senate election, but I am sorry that the Senate election is being held tomorrow. The court said that we do not want to get into further complications. Hopefully, if the case goes to the High Court, we will get relief.

He said that the Election Commission does not have the authority to disqualify anyone without a reference from the Chairman Senate.
