KARACHI: At least three police officers were injured after unknown assailants attacked the Preedy police station in Karachi with a cracker late Friday night.
As per details, the miscreants hurled the cracker, reportedly a hand grenade, in the parking lot of the police station, leaving pellet injuries to cops and damaging a police vehicle.
The injured left police officers include Arshad, Amir, and Riaz.
DIG South Asad Raza confirmed that the explosion caused damage to a vehicle belonging to the crime scene unit, with a broken window as a result.
He said that the bomb disposal unit was summoned to assess the situation, adding that the nature of the explosion was being determined.
Following the explosion, police cordoned off the area and transferred the injured to a nearby hospital, where they remain in stable condition.
Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar has taken notice of the attack on Preedy Police Station and ordered an inquiry into the incident.
He also directed the concerned authorities to provide the best medical facilities to the policemen injured in the incident.
